So, wisdom.
I was wondering, what happens to truly WISE men/women? I mean, some people might argue that these wise-persons become preists or religous leaders. But seriously, other than a lot of devotion and memorizing you don't really need wisdom to be one.
If you check the dictionary it mentions that wisdom includes (as an accepted definition) the "accumulation of Philosophical or Scientific facts" but again, knowing all about philosophy doesn't make you wise necessarily. And knowing a shitload about science makes you knowledgeable, again not the tipe of WISE that makes people say: That man is a wise-man.
What do wise people do then? You won't get payed for wisdom. If your skill is to be wise, what would you do with your life?

Wisdom

Wisdom is not a quality valued in an economic sense. People don't look for wisdom in resumés when they're hiring.
I believe wisdom comes from courage and reflection, taking the time to think about life and really living it. People get wiser as they get older since they have lived more and learned more.
Philosophy may make you wise, if you have the courage to understand what it really means. If you come close to madness and return safely then the journey has probably made you wiser.
But it's not really about academic knowledge, it's about life knowledge.
What's it good for? Life. Dealing with it, dealing with problems life throws at you, you're girlfriend cheats on you, you get fired from a job, you're living in a post-apocalyptic universe and the mayor of a scrounger's town has left you to your death in the middle of the desert.
Wise people have their shit together, they do a lot of stuff with their time, they depend on no one, they know a lot of people and can tell a lot of stories. Wise people are the best in giving advice since they have probably lived through something similar. They're not afraid of making mistakes, or of "hacer el oso". And you will probably find them in all walks of life.
You don't need to be wise to be a priest or any kind of spiritual guide, and it actually turns out to be counterproductive since these people tend not to live life at it's fullest. But someone truly wise would make a great spiritual leader.
Hehe Good answer :) Anyone else?
My faith is really thin right now. Yet the only answer I can be about being wise would be shorter but similar than nullrand. After strong conversations with A. I understand wise as someone who has no corrupted perseption and so can see truth beyond prejudice, tags, etc.
I don't know who would be wiser or if there is a way to measure that, or if it would be at all wise to compare at all.
I was struggling with where can one find some of this Wise men, who could advice or at least see the truth where one can see but doubt. I ended up not trusting anyone anymore, at least not their perception. And what kind of wise men wouldn't be wise enough to stay away from someone who eagerly wants to throw her madness at him (problems)?
"If you come closer to madness and return safely, then the journey has probably made you wiser" -Nullrand.
The only Wise to search or wonder about should be the one we can find in ourselves. And that is one hell of a transformation. Which in my understanding has more to do with unlearning what has been burnt into our core. Maybe its not dificult or easy to unlearn, , but I think its more about fear.
To start learning again with innocence (but not as naive as when kids) as Osho so to bild again knowledge based on a clear prerception...
As always the chaotic thoughts are reflected in my writing. One sentence makes no sense here and there. Sorry about that, thoughts keeps crashing when writing.
First I need to believe someone is Wise enough to be called a truly wise men, then I can surely tell you what they do as profession.
But maybe they just live with theirselves, self sufficient somewhere. As hermits... living with... lots of cats...
I want to think Osho is a wise man. But what if he is not? But still he lives of what others give him, of his teachings.
It might be a little bit late, but the wise men do ... TV Series ... remember Wise Guy?!?!? it was a nice Series =)
